pelagia Posted March 28, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted March 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am asking for an advise from those who have serviced their lenses in Solms. I want to clean and adjust my older summicrons. How did you perform it? I have written 3 times to different email addresses in Solms service, asking how to proceed, and also about deadlines and prices. I have no answer. Did you just send your lenses? Â Another question: can you recommend any other place in Europe where they make CLA for Leica lanses? Â Thanks

hermanp Posted March 28, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 28, 2012 Another question: can you recommend any other place in Europe where they make CLA for Leica lanses? Â Wil van Manen in The Netherlands may be able to help you. Â Hope this helps,
holgerf Posted March 28, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted March 28, 2012 My experiences with the service in Solms are excellent. Advice: Just make a phone call to the friendly people. Generally they are able to give you a specific date for a service to avoid a long waitung period. Â Best Holger
k-hawinkler Posted March 28, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted March 28, 2012 Toomas, Â My experience with Leica CS in Solms is similar, no response to my emails - but I only waited the better part of a week. However, they do answer telephone calls during their regular office hours, are very friendly, and give accurate schedule estimates. Of course, now Easter is coming up. That will delay things a little bit. Whoever the person is at CS that answers your phone, keep in mind her/his name and stay in touch with concerning your items. Â I highly recommend Wil van Manen Kamera-Service though. Cathy Cuiper does a super job answering email. She is an outstanding communicator, extremely pleasant to deal with, and their service and work product is first rate and likely less expensive. They will also let you know if they can perform a certain repair job or not. Â Good luck.
gbealnz Posted March 29, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted March 29, 2012 I have had just the opposite result from Leica CS, exemplary. Mine wasn't about CLA though, more registration of a camera (used at that), but the e mail and ensuing communication made me extremely happy I had made contact. Really great service, and one happy camper I am. Gary
lars_bergquist Posted March 29, 2012 Share #6  Posted March 29, 2012 I have had my dealer (Schönherrs Foto in Stockholm) handle it. Dealers have regular communications with Solms. Your dealer will probably also be helpful.  Service at Solms has been good, but they are prone to take the bit between their teeth and gallop away with the job, so be careful to specify exactly what you want them to do, or ask for an estimate (but this will cost you extra).  I too can sincerely recommend the van Manen operation:  Mr.V.C. van Manen Dorpsstraat 81 2712 AD Zoetermeer The Netherlands  But the Solms people say that only they are equipped to properly disassemble, adjust, test and reassemble 'ASPH' lenses, and knowing what is involved, I believe them. This is an entirely new level of precision. So in those cases, Solms it is.  LB
fotolebrocq Posted March 29, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted March 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just ring Leica who arrange for my camera/lens to be collected by a courier from my home. Doing it this way protects you from potential loss. The turnaround has always been better than expected and I stronly recommend doing it this way. pelagia Posted March 30, 2012 Author Share #8 Â Posted March 30, 2012 I wish to tell you that I got a kind answer from Solms. FYI, the cost of a lens adjustment is about 150 EUR + VAT, and the service time is 3-4 weeks.
