stickan1 Posted March 27, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted March 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was exploring some rock formations in the evening light and decided to make some rather abstract images. I will go back here again and use a smaller aperture or focus stacking to get everything in focus, but I am pleased with the shapes and colors. Advertisement Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Hi stickan1, Take a look here Rock formations. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted March 27, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 27, 2012 Stig, Â Nice pictures and I think you are on the right track by retaking these at a much smaller aperture to get the increased DOF. You have great composition and the colors but the increased sharpness would make these perfect. Â Paul

pauledell Posted March 28, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted March 28, 2012 Stig, Â Your revised version is terrific. I like the framing so much better in this one The colors and lighting set it off. Â Paul
leicamann Posted March 29, 2012 Share #6  Posted March 29, 2012 Hmm. I seen the second attempt tells me that it would be a good idea to keep going back to this until you "feel" you've gotten what you wanted..  Philip Hyde comes to mind , have a look at his work, I know he as a lot of "sky" in some of his rock landscapes..but some of them definitely hammer away at similar ideas.   Thanks for sharing  Cheers, JRM
ldhrads Posted March 29, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted March 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stig, Very nice abstracts, I like the way it fools my eye in the second set, can't really tell the relationship of the rocks.!
Iduna Posted March 30, 2012 Share #8  Posted March 30, 2012 Stig, Your revised version is terrific. I like the framing so much better in this one The colors and lighting set it off.  Paul  Stig, I agree very much with Paul, now it is an abstraction and it has a value in its own. In the first version it was not so cler what it should be, a rock or soemthing else.  These duscussions are always interesting, because oneself is learning a lot.
