CaptDNA Posted March 26, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchase a new Leica V-Lux 2. I am a like bit confuse with some of the settings on the camera; For example, under snapshot mode, there is the standard, happy and B/W. What is the meaning of happy? Switching the dial to COLOR MODE. I selected MONOCHROME and took some photos with the setting. When I was done for the day the camera download all the color photos except the one on MONOCHROME! Why? Last! Under REC, you have Aspect, Resolution and QUALITY. The camera uses the following symbols two intermittent horizontal lines with an arrow pointing downward, One horizontal line with arrow pointing downward, RAW, Arrrow Down two horizontal lines, RAW, Arrow, one horizontal line, and last the word RAW with no arrow or lines. What is the default? Is the first one a JPG symbol? What is the difference? Can somebody help me out? Cheers from Landstuhl, Germany I am going to need Leica for dummies very soon. CaptDNA Posted March 26, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted March 26, 2012 The owner manual does not address the issues. The symbols or the download import issue with the monochrome image. Thank you
andybarton Posted March 26, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2012 Welcome to the forum Page 51 of the manual tells you what "Happy" means The intermittent lines with arrows sounds like the jpg quality symbol. This has no meaning if you are just shooting in RAW mode. This is also explained in the manual. I have just downloaded the manual and found these within a couple of minutes. I am afraid that the quality of the manual belies the origins of the camera, and if I had a camera with such instructions, I would have lost the will to live by page 17, but the answers you seek are all in there. CaptDNA Posted March 26, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted March 26, 2012 The owner manual does not address the issues. The symbols or the download import issue with the monochrome image. Thank you I download the pdf version, and it does explain everything! It appears that the booklet that came with the camera is an abridge version in Japanese, French, English and Spanish. Thank you!
