wda Posted March 23, 2012 Share #21 Â Posted March 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It certainly seems so in the UK. Search your regional dealers. It is usually an omen of impending replacement.
Advertisement Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Hi wda, Take a look here X1 Discontinued?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Timmyjoe Posted March 23, 2012 Share #23  Posted March 23, 2012 I bought one recently. For about £1,400, you get the camera, viewfinder and leather case.  May I ask where you got that. Here in the States, I can only find them as "camera only" at $1995, last time I checked.
andybarton Posted March 23, 2012 Share #24  Posted March 23, 2012 Stephens in Manchester. He had three left on Thursday when I was last in there.  www.stephenspremier.com  Try our sponsoring dealers too as I'm sure that they will all have similar bundles. Timmyjoe Posted March 23, 2012 Share #25 Â Posted March 23, 2012 Thanks Andy. Â Looking at Stephens current price of 1495 British Pounds, which is equivalent to about $2380, that is the price of the camera and viewfinder, so they're throwing in the case for free. Can't find that bundle at B&H or Amazon here in the States.
andybarton Posted March 23, 2012 Share #26  Posted March 23, 2012 Fair enough.  £1400 is the "wife" price, of course. Any £95s are instantly mentally written off...

tc4237 Posted March 24, 2012 Share #28 Â Posted March 24, 2012 why should we be unhappy about the x1 being discontinued? Â being discontinued means halting production. which means there are only a limited number of X1s in the market. Â being 1 of the FEW owners of this "LIMITED EDITION" camera makes me feel special. tnturnerx1 Posted March 24, 2012 Share #29 Â Posted March 24, 2012 I don't know if X1 is discontinued or not, but it doesn't matter to me. I purchased mine November 2011. I sold my Canon T2i as I was tired of lugging it around. I used the X1 heavily during my 6 week vacation in China to get images for my web site, www.TheArtfulToad.com. The X1 is a timeless design. I will have a full review of the X1, so watch for my post on this site, under "Six Weeks in China with X1", but give me a day to get it done. The X1 has pluses and minuses, and I will briefly talk about them in my China post. The bottom line for THIS post is that if there is an X2, it WILL be better than the X1, but the images from the X1 are so good, there is no overriding reason for me to dump it in favor of the X2. I will wait for the X3 or X4, but definitely another Leica. Anyone who signs the guest book on my web site will get notified when the China images are out there for view and possible purchase. There's some great photos. Watch for my China post; I'll get it out this weekend.
jippiejee Posted March 24, 2012 Share #30  Posted March 24, 2012 I tried to sell mine in the knowledge that an X2 is ahead, but although my set is very complete with the handgrip, an extra battery, the optical viewfinder, an extension tube with polarizer filter etc., €955 was the maximum offered, so I decided to just keep and enjoy my camera. It really doesn't matter what the X2 will be like, when the X1 is giving me these great files already.
Hektor6644 Posted March 26, 2012 Share #31  Posted March 26, 2012 One further thought. In B&H most, if not all, of the Leica M mount lenses are "out of stock." This does not mean that Leica has discontinued all of their M lenses:  Leica Lenses  It only means that they are "temporarily out of stock." At those prices! Wow!!!  Hektor

sblitz Posted March 26, 2012 Share #33 Â Posted March 26, 2012 of course there is an X2 coming, what shouldn't there be? the opportunity to change lenses would be revolutionary for the line, otherwise an evolutionary change. the difference determines whether to swap or not. given the great pictures taken to date, all is right with having owned leica's first generation version of the x series. Guest Ming Rider Posted April 2, 2012 Share #34 Â Posted April 2, 2012 Looking at it logically, the mere fact that an X2 is released (or the X1 discontinued), would have ZERO effect on the performance of the X1. Â As I read recently, 'choice' is the cause of all depression in the modern world. Â Love what you have
