Wail Posted March 20, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) First off, I'm not too sure if this is the right place to post this thread, but I couldn't find anywhere specific for lenses! Â Â I'm new in to the Leica world and looking for a 35mm f/1.4 for my M9; and as the title asks, could anyone please shed some light on the difference between the Voigt. MC Black and the Voigt. SC Black? Â From reading the text, I'm guessing the MC is multi-coated, while the SC is single-coated? Not too sure if I'm reading that right! Which then begs the question, what's the real difference between the two? Generally, I would have thought the multi-coated to be the better of the two, but if so then how come they're both priced the same? Â I know I've raised a number of questions there, I hope to get some clarification to this. Â Thanks in advance for any input / help.
Advertisement Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Hi Wail, Take a look here What's the difference between the Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 VM Nokton MC Black & SC Black. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Double Negative Posted March 20, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 20, 2012 The MC, as you surmised - is multicoated, whereas the SC is singlecoated. Â Generally, you want MC as it's "the way modern lenses are made." Especially for work with digital, color, etc. The SC lenses are aimed more towards B&W shooting on film where their lower contrast works well. Â Otherwise, optically, they're the same save for the coating(s).
Wail Posted March 20, 2012 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Thank you for the quick reply. Â Resolves the matter for me, as to which I'd buy, MC it is.
