Noctilux f/0.95 vs HyperPrime CINE 50mm T0.95

The thing that comes to mind is that a Lexus is a nice car - but a Lexus does not compare to an S class Mercedes. As always, you get what you pay for, one way or the other.

And as always, some of us do not have the resources to get the best lens or car that is available.

Such is life - so we do what we can.

Judging a lens from Vimeo is not widely thought to be the best way to evaluate it critically.

As more images become available it will be easier to form a valid opinion.

Having used the Hyperprime and the 0.95 Noct I believe the Hyperprime to be fully equal optically to the Noct. That is without any caveats regarding cost.

Of course, equal is not the same thing as identical.

Ultimately most of us have little opportunity to try either of these lenses first hand. You have to look at what you see online (useless in many ways) and extrapolate from experience you have with lenses made by the same company (also limiting). With these two means of 'research' at my disposal I wouldn't think twice about ordering a Noctilux (if I had the money to do so), but it would be very difficult to pull the trigger on the SLR Magic...

Fair enough.

Hopefully, more online material will be posted over the next few months.
