tkostas Posted March 19, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted March 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a brand new 35/2 ASPH Summicron M lens and when I went to put it on my M9 I noticed the focusing ring don't stop at 0.7m but continues to rotate. After that I checked my other lenses and found that the same happens on my APO 75 summicron and 50mm summilux except my 24mm elmar 3.8. Â My question is has anyone come across this problem before? anybody got any advice? Sorry for my pure english.

RockyIII Posted March 19, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 19, 2012 I think it is normal. My 28 Elmarit stops on the mark, but my 35 and 50 Summicrons both go past. Â Rocky
Augi Posted March 19, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted March 19, 2012 Mine goes to about 0.6, then stops. Â Does yours just keep on going round and round, never stopping?
tkostas Posted March 19, 2012 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 19, 2012 No, stopping about 5mm past the mark.
skinnfell Posted March 20, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted March 20, 2012 No, stopping about 5mm past the mark. Â I have the same lens and mine does this too. There is always a little play in the near end, however at the infinity end it should stop right at the mark. tkostas Posted March 20, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted March 20, 2012 And my at infinity stops right at the mark. However my Elmar 24mm f/3.8 stops right at the mark at infinity and at 0.7m.This probably means that my other lenses need adjustment by the Solms technicians. wizard Posted March 20, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) This probably means that my other lenses need adjustment by the Solms technicians. Â No, definitely not. The indication '0.7m' is just that, an indication or mark showing that the lens is set at 0.7m. Unlike at the opposite end, where focusing past the infinity mark would blur your images, there is no reason to have a stop at the lower end. You focus using your rangefinder, and if it turns our to be a little less than 0.7m, well, fine. You will obtain a sharp image at the set distance. Â So all is well, no worries, my lenses show the same behaviour. Â Andy
tkostas Posted March 20, 2012 Author Share #8 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Thanks for the quick answers, but still I have a question. This does not affect the correct reading of the scale of depth of field?
