philipus Posted March 16, 2012 Share #41 Â Posted March 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also bring my camera with me virtually everywhere. My usual go-to-the-office briefcase is of the Japanese brand Porter. Extreme quality which imho beats Tumi by far. I put the camera (M6 in my case (pun intended because, why not)) with lens in the document compartment. If I have the 50 asph the camera rests on its back. If I use a smaller lens, the camera 'stands' on the bottom plate. Imho there's no need for any further pouch, bag or cover when the camera is put in a briefcase. Advertisement Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Hi philipus, Take a look here "I carry my camera everywhere" In what?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Double Negative Posted March 16, 2012 Share #42  Posted March 16, 2012 Depends, really. How much stuff and how long.  For "everyday" type carry of just a camera/lens I toss it in my laptop/messenger bag for work. For a more typical outing I'll use either a Thank Tank Photo Urbran Disguise 20 or Retrospective 5 bag. They're are about the same size, but the latter is more of a "shoot out of" bag with its messenger style. So I keep it packed light for quick and easy access. I use the former when I'm going somewhere and/or for a while - and it gets packed!  Then again, for purely "stealth" reasons, I use a cheap messenger bag I picked up in Amsterdam that has no padding, so it's very svelte. I just toss the camera in to keep it out of sight. I think it cost me a total of 20€.
Archiver Posted March 16, 2012 Share #43 Â Posted March 16, 2012 My everyday bag is the Thinktank Urban Disguise 30. I've set it up so that one third can hold the a camera, usually the M9, and the other 2/3rds are left bare so I can slot in whatever else I want. The Ricoh GRD III goes into the inside pocket, tucked out of the way of the main gear but always within reach. Â I've just bought a Hadley Pro. I love the look and feel of this bag, and how well it is made, but I have been spoiled by the rugged and secure zips of the Thinktank, along with the numerous pockets both inside and out. It's just so easy to slip and camera out, crank off a shot and slip it back in without bothering with a flap. Not to mention being able to hold the handle with the bag open without feeling like the bag will tilt and spill everything. But the Urban Disguise is kind of boxy and stiff, and the Hadley Pro molds to the body much more nicely. Â My ideal bag would be the size, quality and feel of the Hadley Pro, with the pockets and zips of the Urban Disguise.
Phil U Posted March 16, 2012 Share #44 Â Posted March 16, 2012 a beautiful A&A strap works fine - with a plastic grocery bag crumpled up in my pocket if it looks like rain. Â +
adli Posted March 16, 2012 Share #45 Â Posted March 16, 2012 I have the original Leica strap. For walking around with camera and one lens, it is ideal. Â If I carry more gear, I use Oscars One Day Bag from A&A.
algrove Posted March 16, 2012 Share #46 Â Posted March 16, 2012 It doesn't pay to advertise that you are "carrying". Never-ready cases are aptly named. I carry a Leica on a simple neckstrap, over the shoulder, under an open jacket. Quickly drawn but otherwise hidden. It becomes part of your body. Â 1.Whenever weather allows what you say, that's exactly how I "carry"-under an open jacket or coat with the wide Leica leather strap. When it's hot and a jacket or other outer garment is just too much outside, it's around my neck after setting WB ala Whibal/Manual and set to 12 feet with a 35mm lens and an f stop giving me 1/250th minimum whenever possible to stop movements-the subjects and my own. Under the jacket is essential for cold weather shooting for me. Â 2.Inside, I assess the location and if I leave it around my neck, then set WB to Kelvin 3200. Â 3.As far as additional lenses, only if truly needed, I carry my Photo Village Black Bag, which can hold M9 with lens attached and up to 2-4 additional lenses (2 with longer lenses and 4 with wider lenses or anything in between) for over the shoulder work. Â However, my preference is #1 & #2 above since it is so fluid with the M9.

Manolo Laguillo Posted March 17, 2012 Share #48  Posted March 17, 2012 BBB-E as well. This is my most recent bag, and I'm very satisfied with it. Light, small, unobstrusive. Space for one M + lens attached, and 2 more lenses (or 4 stacked). There is a thread on the BBB-E. The 2 lenses and the Leica table tripod are there for the purpose of showing how small it is. Laudrup11 Posted March 19, 2012 Share #52 Â Posted March 19, 2012 is that a billingham? and yes youve got a super camera. Â You are correct it is a Billingham. The 'Billingham Hadley Small (Khaki/Tan)'. It's very well constructed, but I found I had to purchase the shoulder pad for it as it had a tendency to slip off my shoulder. flyalf Posted March 19, 2012 Share #53 Â Posted March 19, 2012 At the top of a tripod or in my right hand. Â And sorry, I don't mean to be a smartass, but since I carry it around everywhere its for the intention to photograph.
philipus Posted March 21, 2012 Share #54  Posted March 21, 2012 Sometimes I use my trusty old Wonder Weenie to work. It is also the one I use when travelling and here's a shot that gives a good impression of its size compared with an M6. This bag has the best shoulder strap and pad I have ever tried.  To answer the original question of "how" the camera is carried in this:  I ripped open one of those old laptop bags that all look the same (and seem to have Dell printed on them) and removed the padded protection. It turns out it is just a white foamy plate, much like the ones one brings when hiking in order to sit on colder surfaces. Folding it once made it fit perfectly along the bottom of the WW. Then I have a Kikoy blanket folded to fit and the camera simply lies on that. Lenses go in the front right and left "grab friendly" pockets. Welcome, dear visitor!
