ldhrads Posted March 15, 2012 Share #21 Â Posted March 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) While I like the idea of a variable ND filter, especially for the Noctilux, it appears that no one makes one in E60, yet.... Â meanwhile I'll use the 1.8 I bought a while back, it's cool for using outdoors.
Advertisement Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Hi ldhrads, Take a look here Noctilux + ND filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnbuckley Posted March 15, 2012 Share #22 Â Posted March 15, 2012 One thing also to think about: even with a 6-stop ND filter, if you are shooting in bright sunshine -- especially things like metal, or shiny leaves -- you'll get a fair amount of purple fringing. I am anxious to see what the new Lightroom 4 does to that, as it is getting good reviews for its effect on CA/fringing. But so folks know: the 6-stop ND filter (I'm at the office, so don't have my gear, but why do I think I have an 8-stop filter?), it doesn't completely control purple fringing with the 0.95 Nocti, alas. Â Very true; the Nocti does fringe on harsh contrast changes (i.e. "purple fringing"). Â I messed around with both LR4 and the ACR 6.7 RC to see if this can be massaged out... No luck. Maybe I missed it, or need to play with it more - but I don't think so. One trick you could use is to go into the RGB channels and take out the purple component, but it doesn't work in every image. Will look into this next week when I am home. Brian
