jlindstrom Posted March 15, 2012 Share #21 Posted March 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why is that the case wise the 90/2? Perhaps I would be better with a 75/2. It's just a matter of physics involved. it's inevitable that a 90mm f2 lens will be big in size. Similarly older 75mm f1.4 summilux seemed like holding a baseball bat made of led, when comparing to something like 28mm f2.8 elmarit. This also explains why 75/2 is smaller than 90/2. The long focus throw is there to make focus more accurate. But it also results in focusing being slower. Remember that at F2 the dof will be paper thin.. not much will be in focus. For example the fore mentioned 75/1.4 had less dof than a modern 50/0.95 noctilux. So there are things to consider. The 75/2 is said to be excellent lens. Same goes for the 90/2.8 (only available used). Both of these lenses will be much smaller and lighter than 90/2. And also the 90/2.8 will be whole lot easier to focus due to more dof. And as someone suggested the 90/2.5 summarit would also be a brilliant choice and it's available new. It's a wise choice to go over there and try them out. If possible, maybe buy the 35 & M9 and try to get them to loan you the 75 and/or 90's for a weekend? -- Juha
