jrovner Posted March 6, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand Lightroom 4 has now officially been released. Can anyone tell me whether it contains profiles for the same Leica cameras and lenses covered by Lightroom 3? Thanks.
Advertisement Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Hi jrovner, Take a look here M9 and Lightroom 4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kdriceman Posted March 6, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2012 It should have all of the profiles from LR3 plus these additional profiles: Lightroom Journal
dasjak Posted March 8, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2012 just new lens profiles...the color still looks crap compared to other raw converters...
Double Negative Posted March 8, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2012 If you don't have LR4 you can download the ACR 6.7 RC. While you can use the 2012 process, until Photoshop gets updated, there are no primary controls (highligh/shadow/etc.). Though you can play with the lens profiles that way. hoppyman Posted March 8, 2012 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2012 As others have said, there are about 20 new Leica M lens profiles. The M9 camera profile Adobe Standard appears to be same if you select the 2010 process. However there is a significant colour change when you apply the new 2012 process. Subjectively so far I think it is an improvement. Of course that rendering is only a default as always. Customer camera profiles made prior to the new process still work and are available in the new develop module.
chris_tribble Posted March 10, 2012 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2012 just new lens profiles...the color still looks crap compared to other raw converters... Have you actually used it? Your evaluation runs completely counter to my experience.

Delcredere Posted March 13, 2012 Share #8 Posted March 13, 2012 For information, my email to Leica and their reply: * I just entered my TAN # [ ] for my Leica M9 on the Owners section of the Leica website and it said I was approved to download Lightroom 3. But I already have this version on my iMac and want to upgrade to the latest version which is Lightroom 4. * Please could you tell me what I need to do to get the upgrade from the Leica website? * Thanks * Kind regards Dear Mr. Butcher Thank you for your inquiry to Leica software support. * We regret to inform you that all licenses of previous Adobe Lightroom versions can’t be exchanged due to licensing agreements with the manufacturer. You are only entitled to download and use the version of Lightroom 3 from the Leica owners area which was the current version at the date of camera-purchase. * Of course a regular update to Lightroom 4 is possible through Adobe. Please note following link: Digital photography, photo software | Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 * We ask for your understanding. jpattison Posted March 13, 2012 Share #9 Posted March 13, 2012 That's fair, give them a break! John
Guest WPalank Posted March 13, 2012 Share #10 Posted March 13, 2012 The upgrade form LR3 to LR4 cost me all of $69 US (with NAPP discount). A replacement cap for my 50mm Summilux ASPH will cost me much more than that.
Delcredere Posted March 14, 2012 Share #11 Posted March 14, 2012 That's fair, give them a break! John I agree. I intended no criticism of Leica who have always been most helpful to me. It is just that in one of the threads someone had raised the notion that Leica did provide Lightroom 4. Thank you for pointing out that my post was not being understood in the spirit Iintended. Guest WPalank Posted March 14, 2012 Share #12 Posted March 14, 2012 Actually, from another thread, it looks like you can enter the Tan# you were given for LR4 directly. YMMV.

That seams a bit strange .I downloaded and installed Lightroom 4 yesterday 13th March using the unused TAN number from a M9 I bought 14 months ago. andybarton Posted March 14, 2012 Share #14 Posted March 14, 2012 But had you previously downloaded LR3 via Leica?
eudemian Posted March 14, 2012 Share #15 Posted March 14, 2012 I can't answer for the previous poster Andy but my Tan number from my M9 which I have not used was "cashed" in yesterday with Leica and I now have Lightroom 4 authorised. So good for Leica, At the time I bought the M9-P I thought it was a waste because I already had version 3 and did not need the software,so I am delighted I have saved on the cost of the upgrade. I am sure Leica will suck the money from me in some other way.
Double Negative Posted March 14, 2012 Share #16 Posted March 14, 2012 ^ That's cool. I never used my M9 TAN either for LR3...
andybarton Posted March 14, 2012 Share #17 Posted March 14, 2012 If you've never downloaded Lightroom through Leica, then I see no reason why your TAN number shouldn't work. The system doesn't know how old the camera is. But you only get to download one version. Leica will not give you a free upgrade.

Leica will not give you a free upgrade. --------------------------------------------------------- Thats correct Andy. But on a previous post today Leica have said you can only have the version of Lightroom that was available when you purchased your camera. The fact of the matter is that when you use an unused TAN number irrespective of how old it is you can have the latest version of Lightroom .In my case 14 month old TAN number to get Lightroom 4. Double Negative Posted March 15, 2012 Share #19 Posted March 15, 2012 Once I dig my M9 box out of the attic (to get my TAN) I'll report back what LR version I'm offered and able to download. I don't see why it wouldn't be LR4 since I haven't used the TAN to download anything (ever). Unless they go by TAN ranges, they don't know how old the camera is - and even if so, "it could've sat on a dealer's shelf" all this time (I know, ludicrous but an example, heh).
