sanyasi Posted March 7, 2012 Share #41 Posted March 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been following the discussion of the tone curve bug on two Adobe forum websites. On one of them someone from Adobe wrote that they are looking into the problem. The tone of the post suggests that they are taking it seriously and will provide a quick fix if there is a problem. As for flipping the medium to linear contrast switch to fix the problem as you work on each photo, I found that switching back to medium resulted in much too dark of a photo (compared to the version in LR 3), so I am not sure that is a solution. Guest WPalank Posted March 7, 2012 Share #43 Posted March 7, 2012 RE: Nik Software Products. From the Facebook Page: All Nik Software products are now compatible with Adobe Lightroom 4, updated today! Color Efex Pro 4 was already compatible, however please download new installers for the other products here: Nik Software, Inc. | Downloads So it looks like you need a new installer for SEP2. FYI: For those members that own Nik Products, for about the last year they post updates to the Facebook Page, days before they announce anything on the website. Kevin LaRue (Nik Product Manager) answers questions on the FBP almost immediately. They are Pacific Standard Time (San Diego), but he seems to work even after hours. stickan1 Posted March 7, 2012 Share #44 Posted March 7, 2012 It seems to be worse. No external editors works for me ( Mac Lion). there is a tread about this at the Adobe Forum. No answers yet!
LucisPictor Posted March 7, 2012 Share #45 Posted March 7, 2012 I have thought about upgrading to LR4 (from LR3.6), but I have decided not to do it. I do not own any of the supported Leica lenses and for the rest, the upgrade is not essential. Or would I miss a fantastic feature?
stickan1 Posted March 7, 2012 Share #46 Posted March 7, 2012 The recovery function is much improved. I do quite a lot of landscape photography and for me this seems to be a major improvement. The "dynamic range" has been improved.

stickan1 Posted March 7, 2012 Share #48 Posted March 7, 2012 I do not use CS 5. I have Silver Efex Pro, which I just updated and PixelMator and PS Elements. All are dead! There seems to be a problem in LR 4.
viramati Posted March 7, 2012 Share #49 Posted March 7, 2012 I'm sticking to LR3 for the moment as at least it works!!
Guest WPalank Posted March 7, 2012 Share #50 Posted March 7, 2012 Just downloaded LR4. On a Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have not downloaded ACR Beta 6.7. Have no problem exporting to CS5. Also, took the same image, made new LR4 Develop Module Adjustments, exported to CS5 and those adjustments DO show up. Exported to Nik ColorEfex Pro (have not had time to download new plugin installer for the other Nik products), no problem. In other words, LR4 is working fine on my Mac Pro. YMMV. sanyasi Posted March 7, 2012 Share #51 Posted March 7, 2012 No-one suggested that. I suggested it. When I import and update to 4, my setting goes from medium to linear. I set it back to medium, but found that I did not get anything that looked like the original photo. Jack Siegel
swamiji Posted March 7, 2012 Share #52 Posted March 7, 2012 I am having the problem, none of my Plug-ins work (NIK and other), in LR4 under Lion. They just don't start. The funny thing is that they worked just fine in the LR4 beta.
stickan1 Posted March 7, 2012 Share #53 Posted March 7, 2012 I never tested the beta, but I have read about this at the Adobe forum and several reported that the problem came with the final release. They will probably come with a fix soon.
Guest WPalank Posted March 7, 2012 Share #54 Posted March 7, 2012 The funny thing is that they worked just fine in the LR4 beta. How did you un-install or get rid of the Beta?
swamiji Posted March 8, 2012 Share #55 Posted March 8, 2012 How did you un-install or get rid of the Beta? I dragged it to the trash (and emptied), the instructions said if there was an old release of version 4 it would update. Otherwise it would install new.But I was un-certain if I wanted any of the old version (beta).

swamiji Posted March 8, 2012 Share #57 Posted March 8, 2012 You must have CS5 or Elements 10 on your system... Check out: Adobe Forums: NIK plugins are not working in LR
stickan1 Posted March 8, 2012 Share #58 Posted March 8, 2012 I installed Elements 10 yesterday ( a very slow process) but no improvement. PSE 10 did not start either. I have Lion 10.7.3 and have an Imac and a MacBookPro. Same problem on both machines.
swamiji Posted March 8, 2012 Share #59 Posted March 8, 2012 I installed Elements 10 yesterday ( a very slow process) but no improvement. PSE 10 did not start either. I have Lion 10.7.3 and have an Imac and a MacBookPro. Same problem on both machines. The people who seem to have it worst is us Lion users. None of the prescribed remedies seem to work. While there may be a fix quickly, it might not reach us for some time, as software updates has to go through Adobes internal processes. At least my LR3 still works. Dougg Posted March 8, 2012 Share #60 Posted March 8, 2012 I dragged it to the trash (and emptied), the instructions said if there was an old release of version 4 it would update. Otherwise it would install new.But I was un-certain if I wanted any of the old version (beta). There may be a misapprehension that the update process modifies the code in your older installed copy of the program. Not true; the update installs a full completely fresh copy of the program with only reference to the old one to verify ownership. In this instance, it completely replaced my 4 beta and looked up my oldest registered original, the version 2.7, to verify a valid serial number to allow the upgrade installation.
