okram Posted February 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) well, I am waiting, and in about a week more or less for my M8 and 50 and 21 are coming. But I still haven`t decided for a viewfinder, between leica and zeiss for 21. The biggest problem with leica wf to me seems to be that it is too big. I have red all the posts and comparisons of the two, but I was not able to find a picture of a 25/28 Zeiss on a M8,... If there is somebody willing, i would be very grateful. (Here is a photo for you all, my friends for last couple of months in lots of posts... it is taken with a nokia 6280 2mpx, and the lots of noise ninja and all I could do in PS. Someone posted something about phone cameras and M8 noise for some dance images...but I am very satisfied with this one also) Marko
Advertisement Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Hi okram, Take a look here Well its a little kind request. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Enoteca Posted February 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2007 Marko, if you can afford it (it's quite expensive), I could warmly recommend the Zeiss 25/28. I haven't got a picture of it, but you can have a look on Zeiss' website. It is a great tool, very light and clear and a joy to use. If you are not going for the tri-elmar, that would be best. Other possibilty would be the viewfinder of voigtländer (http://www.cameraquest.com), it is quite good too and costs 30% of the Zeiss.Having started working with the Zeiss, I often did not use anymore the rangefinder (if motive and all circumstances stayed as focused once) because this bright viewfinder was much more easier to use. robertwright Posted February 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2007 I just got the zeiss on monday, it is great, the view is well corrected, extremely bright and the framelines are accurate, actually the 25 is sometimes closer than the 28. I looked at all of them, and settled on this because it was the brightest, like a high-eyepoint style. the other one I would recommend is the voightlander, the round one, not the mini-finder. although the minifinder is great because it is so so tiny, but it also has lines for the 35 and that is distracting. Actually the one I disliked the most was the Leica 21,24,28, there were no frame lines and the edges had penumbra, and it was barrel distorted as well. The ziess is big but beautiful to look through. Not unobtrusive tho, but as you see, the 21 on the M8 with the glowing eye of modor is not unobtrusive either...

okram Posted February 28, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted February 28, 2007 Thanks for the trouble, Robert. Its not a small one, but it seems that if you want a good optical quality, it can`t be smaller. It looks good on M8, even better to me then Leicas... I think I will go for Zeiss, and you helped a lot. Marko
robertwright Posted February 28, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) well I use the M for "everything" and one of those things is interior work, so the finder will help a lot. For on the street, I don't know, might just work with the camera viewfinder and my internal viewfinder so to speak. See if you can look through them, I checked out all 4 before deciding. ymmv. the zeiss is the most expensive of the bunch.
