DennisK Posted February 25, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted February 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just wanted to share a very positive experience I had today with the customer service in Solms. Last week I sent in my M9 with a new Summicron 28 which showed a back focus problem at greater distances while being perfectly fine at close distance. I dropped of the camera at Meister-Camera in Berlin without any packaging on my part and they handled the whole transaction. They told me that the repair might take up to 4 weeks. It would have been difficult to be without the camera for that long since I use it in my day job, so I called CS in Solms and explained the situation. They told me they'd look into it and get back to me. Â One week later and I get the call from Meister telling me I can pick up the camera. This is truly excellent service! Now the Summicron is spot on at all distances and the camera also feels like new. They cleaned it up, updated the firmware, removed my screen protector(?) and even put a new adhesive protection on the base plate. I seriously had to check the serial number to verify they didn't exchange the whole camera for a new one. Is this level of restoring M9s to mint condition normal procedure? DennisK Posted February 25, 2012 Author Share #4 Â Posted February 25, 2012 Nice story. Were the camera and the lens still under warranty? Â Yes, they were both still quite new (M9 December 2011, Summicron 28mm early February 2012). The thing that really surprised me was that they would remove my plastic screen protector, update the firmware (I had intentionally downgraded to 1.162) and re-apply the original plastic base plate protector so the camera would look like fresh out of the box. Â At any rate I feel extremely well taken care of and wanted to share this story to balance some of the not so happy experiences other people may have had.
