For anyone looking to find the elusive B+W 486 UV/IR filters, and can't wait until Leica ships them their free ones, Tamarkin seemed to have a good supply when I was just in there. There were at least ten more available in 46mm. I know I had a hard time tracking one down...

Same. Only Helios in 39 though.

I was there on Wednesday and picked up a 46mm B+W. They didn't have any 39 or 43mm filters at that time though.

 

Great 'store' by the way - if you've been to the NY office you'll know what I mean. Highly recommended and super nice, knowledgeable folks there. They pretty much secured my future Leica business in the space of an hour or so.

Thanks for the info, I picked one up today from them.

 

I had a chance to talk to one of the salespeople, he had a pretty poor opinion of the M8's 8bit raws. He quoted some guru, said that Leica basically crippled the camera with those 8bit files. Felt abit dejected as I have had the camera for just a few days! Think I might order that Feb issue of LFI and read the article for myself.
