With most other people asking unwanted questions you can get away as >>oldschool<< and even get pitied.  Before the flap I never was pitied, quite a nice sideeffect, just try.   best GEORG   My motivation is the same as yours George. But the " Emma Peel " answers set me thinking. Maybe I am influenced more by my surroundings than I thought. My father had a leather case around his camera! It was the normal thing in the seventies!  When I bought my first brand new Nikon F3 in Tokyo, I wanted to protect it against my sweat and scratches. Also against the humidity of hands and the breathing on the camera.  My first Leica M6 had a half case because I wanted to protect it. I still use this half-case 15 years later on my MP .  The cold is also a factor. My brother once froze with his nose to the camera in Siberia when he was photographing outside with minus 40 Celsius. That won't happen with the leather. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! rramesh Posted February 23, 2012 Share #62 Â Posted February 23, 2012 I use a Luigi half-case for my M9. It provides extra grip and is perfect for a walkabout when I don't use camera bag. Â Incidentally I have always had a case of some sort for my cameras and they have always served me well.
StephenPatterson Posted February 23, 2012 Share #63 Â Posted February 23, 2012 I just remembered a 3rd reason why I use a half case. I'm left eye dominant, and without a half case my nose is constantly smudging the LCD screen.
SJP Posted February 23, 2012 Share #64  Posted February 23, 2012 You could stick some sellotape on your nose, cheaper than a ½ case.
