Deliberate1 Posted February 12, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted February 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Friends, I have several Hoya Skylight filters from a Contax G2 kit that fit my Leica M lenses. I would use them purely for protection. I know that they did have the effect of warming images on film. Is the same true with a digital capture? If so, I probably will replace them with UV filters. Thanks, Dvaid
Advertisement Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hi Deliberate1, Take a look here Skylight filter effect on digital images?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted February 13, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted February 13, 2012 Yes, they warm the light in the same way - but Auto white balance will sometimes compensate, and it's easy to make a small colour temperature tweak when "developing" RAW files or in post-processing. lars_bergquist Posted February 13, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted February 13, 2012 I would add that if you do a manual white balancing, this will of course take account of the filter too. Â L.B.
