M8 files sorting is 'scrambled' by C1

I am being frustrated by C1's (in)ability to transfer files from the M8 to PC and MAINTAIN the shooting order. Especially, as often happens, a number of different shoots in a day end up on the one SD card. When transferring, I cannot group images from one shoot and process together.

Worse, images within one shoot are randomly transferred so that there is no logical sense in the series.

Is there a setting somewhere in C1 that can control this, or is its function as poor as the help(?) files that accompany it?

I don,t wish to appear to be a 'knocker' as I really want to use this program successfully. I have poured a lot of energy into learning it, but have come up against a brick wall with this problem.

All advice appreciated. Thanks.

admittingly the file-management aspects of C1 are somewhat limited, which is why they tried to simplify the concept with "sessions" folders. the idea is that each shoot or day (remember this program was originally written and tailored to commerical pro shoots with digital backs) gets its own sessions with a series of capture/process/trash folders.

that said, you can always change the order in which C1 lists your images.

i usually choose "Sort by Shot Date" which will give me a chronological order of all my images in that session regardless of filename/camera (assuming all cameras are set to the proper time)

you can do this by right-clicking on an image an go under "arrange by"

in addition, you can create as many sub folders as you'd like within each session and drag your grouping of images if you want to isolate them. on a mac, do this by clicking on the little folder icon at the very bottom of the left hand corner above "organize".

hope this helps.

Hmm...my shots are continously numbered and appear in that exact order in the C1 capture folder, from where I move them.

Not sure whether I have activated anything special, but they ALWAYS stay in chronological order.

Are you on Mac or PC?

Andy, I will try looking at the prospect the way you describe and see if I can tumble to it!

Dirk, I am on a PC.

Thank you both for your ideas.

I will report tomorrow on what success I have.
