30% off: need help with decision

Well, I've now received both my lenses, a WATE and a 75mm Summilux, and I'm pleased at the opportunity to save money through the 30% scheme. Both are great lenses and although I'm still getting used to the 75mm, I'm really pleased with the results and it's easy to see the family relationship: 50/1 and 75/1.4 against 50/1.4 and 75/2.

I think it would be a mistake to pass on the 30% offer; you cannot do better elswhere and it's the opportunity to buy a lens you might not have otherwise considered.

That is particularly true for superexpensive lenses or dissapeared lenses (Noctilux, Summilux 75, 28 Cron, 35 Lux...).

I disagree. I sent in my 35 Summilux for cleaning, and have a bill over $400, while the whole problem was it was a bit stiff. From now on I will buy cheap cosmetically damaged lenses I can resell or throw away rather than have factory-adjusted. I cannot afford this.

My M8 is at Solms, although I was repeatedly promised that it would be back. This is not a camera for a pro ($400 for lubing a prime lens ????) and anyway, I cannot use the camera because it has spent 2 months in Solms since I got it.

I PAID for my camera and cannot even get it repaired. I PAID for the filters I had to put in front of the lens to develop the profiles you people get from me and then so nicely write me a note to "thank me for my hard work" rather than cough up thirty bucks.

.Leica is treating its paying customers like shit and so-called "discounts" are no substitute for functioning equipment, decent repair delays and loaners when REPEATEDLY requested.

And as for the crowd here, I have a decision. From now on I will raise my profile prices from $30 to $100, as obviously everyone here can afford that if they can afford new Noctilux lenses, and then I can afford Leica prices. Or maybe a Porsche instead ?

And if anyone is unhappy with the new profile prices they can write a note to Leica saying that it would have been smarter to give me decent treatment, repair my camera, and send me a loaner when I asked for one.

Wow that is alot! It seems like a task like that would be better sent to a good third party repair facility. But how were you to know.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles with the Leica. I wish they would get it together and fast-track M8 upgrades and lens coding or others too will lose confidence in Leica.
