Let me establish some criteria and then I would like feedback as to which application, if any meets the criteria.

1. Runs on both Mac and PC

2. Converts RAW (DNG) and uses profiles like the ones posted here

3. Organizes files easily

4. Provides editing at least equal to C1 for conversion

5. Provides very high quality nosie reduction

6. Provides image editing with layers at least the equal to PSE5

7. Is fast in execution

8. Easy to create web galleries and easy to print from

9. Accepts third party plug-ins

10. Fast high quality viewer

11. Doesn't have to launch a separate editor like PSE5

One can spend a fortune on software and I now have quite a few on my PC and MAC. The problem is constantly having to go back and forth between programs.

in a word ... nope

probably Photoshop CS2 is the one software tool for cross platform usage

this by virtue of the plugins available, and the fact its available for both systems, mac and pc

but i cant think of one reason why you would need to do that

in a more minimalist essence

you may need work-flow

you do need image editing

but for a special look/feel you should look elsewhere

>Have you tried a wide variety of applications? Some are pretty obscure from small companies and some are quite expensive.

My job it to search for the "perfect" workflow (books, http://www.outbackphoto.com). If I stop posting i found and sell the perfect app.

Get me right: I know it is expensive and confusing. Try to prepare your images in the classic darkroom.

At some point is is better to live with the software you have and train your eyes.
