R lenses on digital body..

Sony's shutter button is only a shutter button. Standby to ON to almost no shutter lag.

The GXRs shutter button is also just a shutter button. It is the focus assist that is tied to the half press, and thats a good thing. To zoom out with the NEX you have to press the MF button again, and after you take the shot, you have to press it again to zoom in, if I remember correctly.

Also, while the color peaking on the NEX is good, it is not as nice to see SLIGHT differences of focus as with Ricohs Mode 2. I know what I am talking about because I had both cameras for a while but found Ricohs implementation to be vastly superior. On the NEX it is just a nice addition, a by product if you want.

ALSO, just my opinion, most all R Lenses, wether wide, standard, or telephoto, are just too big for the NEX or 4/3rd form factor.

The 135 is the only R lens I own, it's a relatively new acquisition, and it kind of fell into my lap unannounced. It's, as Bill so kindly pointed out, excessive.

One may be better served attaching leitaxed R glass to a bigger, R sized, SLR digital body (take your pick) for handling and balance.

That seems excessive. The GXR has focus peaking/magnification, a hotshoe and a decent (and tiltable) EVF without having to resort to major cost or surgery. When I get home I shall post a shot of an "equivalent" setup with my 135mm Elmarit-R on my GXR for comparison.

Regards,

Bill

Is this still available Bill? One other question now I'm here: why do I need the 'M' module and convertor for my 'R' glass, could I not use any module and adapter or is the adapter brand specific as in Leica mount for Leica lens only?

I keep hearing good things about the GXR system and while I wait for Photokina to show it's latest and greatest I might persuade myself to try out the Ricoh in the interim.

The only GXR Module with a bajonett mount is the M module, there are no others.

There are 50/2.5 and 28/2.5 equivalent modules as well as zooms, but the M Module is the only one with a mount (it is called GXR Mount module, officially)
