Under "Picture Numbering", choose "Continuously" 2. Format SD card using M8 3. Under "Picture Numbering" you will see additional option, "Reset fold. no." 4. Choose "Reset fold. no." The camera will revert back to its original factory numbering of L100-0001 the next time you take a picture.

Shootist Posted February 26, 2007 Share #22 Posted February 26, 2007 To add to this you can start the numbering at any point you like by copying a Jpeg image to the card and then VIEW it then take a picture. The image you just took will start at the next higher number of the Jpeg you copied to the card. Not sure if it works if you copy a DNG file as I've only done it with Jpeg. ho_co Posted February 27, 2007 Share #23 Posted February 27, 2007 Boy, a lot of experimentation went into these answers! Thanks a bunch. But won't file names eventually overlap? If we start one camera at L300xxxx and another at L400xxxx, if I understand correctly: The one that starts at L300xxxx will increase its folder number after every thousand images until it rolls over into L3999999, then to L400000, where we started with the second body. Of course, that's a million exposures later, so maybe of no importance? Two more points: I remember reading about either the D-Lux 2 or the Digilux 2 that the folder rollover sometimes happens earlier than expected, so maybe these algorithms aren't completely worked out? And a firmware upgrade to my Digilux 1 caused it to reset itself to L100xxxx; perhaps major firmware changes might do the same on the M8? Just speculation, of course!
