Merlin 'sees' a cat!

Recently, I rediscovered film so I have been trialling different films and developers. This offering is from Ilford HP5 Plus souped in (old) Agfa Rodinal.

 

My German Shepherd, Merlin, looks for the cat next door each day I take him for a walk. This is his regular pose, prior to walking with me.

Merlin seems quite preoccupied at the moment. A nice picture with fine composition and smooth tones, but to me, it seems too light and flat. If you have PhotoShop, try reducing the brightness, then increase the contrast and finally sharpen it some.

Thanks Paul. Interesting observations. I think my film/developer combo may not be optimal and I don't think the image will sharpen any more. I have make a few tweaks as you suggested here,

This is with levels BP ans WP compressed a bit and MP shifted R a bit.

 

On comparing, I think you correct.
