JeTexas Posted January 25, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got a good deal on a 50mm Summicron DR with goggles on eBay, but unfortunately had not done my research first. After winning the auction, I started reading up on the new-to-me lens that would be headed my way, and I was distraught when I found out that the extra-long focusing cam on the DR made it impossible for use on the M8 or M9. I had also read that although you could mount and focus the DR if it was in close-up mode, the goggles wouldn't seat because of the height of the top plate of the M8 and M9, rendering focus impossible. I gave it a try anyway. Despite the fact that the little black knob on the back of the goggles keeps them from sliding all they way onto the M8, it does not seem to noticeably affect focus. (Even if it did, the black knob on my version can be removed with a screw - an easily reversible process.) Photos are resized for the forum but not cropped.
