The price of Leica R lenses started rising some 5-6 years ago with the advent of Chinese made adapters to use the legacy glass on Japanese digital cameras.

Thus, digital Johnny’s can now mount Summicron, Elmarits and Telyts on their flash-in-the-pan electronic devices that are the latest gizmo today and superseded this time next year. Landfill in ten. Now the Leicaflex trio are made to last. Notwithstanding the unavailability of the PX625 mercury oxide cells. My pair of Leicaflex cameras (made 1965 & 1967) have non working meters, so I use handheld. Reflective and incident, combining the two gives matrix, at least according to me! I use my pair with  28/2.8, 35/2, 50/2, 90/2.8, 180/4 & 250/4.
Strong, superb quality and tip-top reliability. If anyone interferes with me, I would have no hesitation in hitting them in the face with my camera and carry on shooting.

I bought my lenses quickly as I noticed the way the wind was blowing. Don’t bother with zooms, slow, heavy, large and poor performance. Oh how I laugh at the digital Johnny’s with their 28-600mm f12.5 superzooms. Three feet long and struggling to keep them still. Unable to switch on the anti-vibration stability function as it quickly uses up the juice. Taking a shot and proudly showing all members of their party. Oh dear.
