Can't this stuff be combined by the moderators into one thread? There are six threads alone on this first page. Ok, I give up. I might as well join in: Â I'm looking for a nice clutch purse and some heels, nothing to expensive, something I can just go out and kick around in. CalArts 99 Posted January 16, 2012 Share #24  Posted January 16, 2012 The 'right' bag is so subjective; there's always one that will work for somebody but never for everybody.  There was a thread here recently about this Leica user and his bag: Photographer Daniel Milnor Talks About Telling Stories with Photos  Someone mentioned that the bag he uses is the Bare Bones Bag made by Steve Schraub. It's marketed as such by Schraub but is actually made by Eric Truran of CourierWare which is a small company in the US (Vermont.) They have been known by (real) messengers as making the best messenger bags available long before other companies made them (they were originally made in Cambridge MA for couriers in the Boston area.) Here's the story of the Bare Bones Bag and about Eric making them: BBB  They aren't canvas, but are handmade of 1000 denier cordura nylon and very robust. You can ask for just about any color and option. The prices aren't bad either considering what you're getting. Here's their main website: Featured  I've had one since 1997 and use it as an 'all around' bag. The one that is marketed as the Schraub Bare Bones Bag is also the Mini Incognito bag: Incognito Camera Bags You can have it custom made to your choosing (it starts at 99.00 USD and they are having a 25th year anniversary sale of 25.00 USD off right now.)  Anyway, just another option to consider. It may or may not be your cup of tea, but I use one of their products and can vouch for the build quality. It's very basic looking and doesn't attract much attention.  (Here's their manufacturing philosophy: "Our bags are made one at a time or in a small production format to maintain high standards that might be compromised by outsourcing. In fact, we the owners, Eric and Diana, do all of the cutting and a good deal of the sewing ourselves. I'd fit right in with the other S2-toting Russian oligarchs. Only problem... need an S2. Maybe bill would go for that rough look, though? But, I'm guessing the big S2 would put him off. Also the top compartment zips closed and has a flap, which is wonderful for keeping "little hands" out of my bag when visiting less civilized destinations. The insert, which is removable, is the best I've ever seen. It's a completely self enclosed insert, with it's own zippered top that stows away when in use. It's great because you can remove the insert, pack it full of gear, carry it in another suitcase or bag, and carry more stuff in the Scout. I find this very handy, as I usually bring more gear than I carry at any one time (daytime, night, crowds, vistas, etc.). Construction of leather and waxed canvas, with heavy metal buckles is first class. IMHO it's the best shoulder bag going and at just over $200 a real bargain. Stephen  Hi Stephen,  Did you consider some of the other Wotancraft bags? I like the Scout and the Messenger bag, albeit a bit pricey. Still, all of their camera bags look well made and unique (especially your Scout).  Thanks. When I only had a camera and a couple of lenses, I used a British Army Pattern 1937 khaki haversack with its rear-mounted fastenings (used to allow it to be carried on the back) removed. Incredibly tough, comes with a matching shouder strap, but looks pretty nondescript. Other armies no doubt had something similar.
