NZDavid Posted January 19, 2012 Share #61 Posted January 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) True, but not the whole back-plate like most film cameras. I'm not sure if it's a good place for card and battery for an M-digital -- sensor and shutter take up quite a bit of space as it is.

Guest Posted January 23, 2012 Share #62 Posted January 23, 2012 An electronic = SILENT SHUTTER in a new M. Leicas were always less loud than the competitors'. Panasonic delivered talk about this and Nikon are the first to have a silent shutter in an interchangeable-lens camera, the 1J/V. To make less noise than the other cameras is a Leica M core feature and Dr. K. has the funds to shop for this advanced technical detail for a future M, which would be in the Leica spirit. Just as the "911" which Leica executives quote as a role model, this could be implemented in an unchanged camera body, along with a CMOS sensor etc. Since a 550€ Nikon camera body has it now, expecting it from a future camera body costing 10 times that much is not unrealistic. In order to replace my M9, that I bought last year, I will wait for this key feature, which is true to M philosophy in an up-to-date version and is also in marketing terms a real alternative to the bells&wissles of other brands, a most classical attribute.
