Deliberate1 Posted January 3, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted January 3, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just signed up for a B&W seminar with Justin Stailey in Boston. Since it is limited to 15 and these programs sell out I figured I'd shoot and them aim. Anyone taken this course and/or with this instructor? I am quite interested in the relative advantages off shooting B&W in camera vs. adjustment which I have been doing in CS5. Thanks. David PS: How do you set the camera for B&W? Could not find it in the "compression" setting. Tx

Riccis Posted January 3, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted January 3, 2012 Justin is an amazing instructor but also a superb shooter. Highly recommended!
Jeff S Posted January 3, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted January 3, 2012 PS: How do you set the camera for B&W? Could not find it in the "compression" setting. Â Well, if you shoot JPG, then you can change color saturation to b/w. Once you shoot DNG only (as I do), the files are color and the b/w setting is not available; conversion is done in PP. I don't like having the camera make decisions for me. Â Jeff
YamaDigital Posted January 3, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted January 3, 2012 Justin is great and he will probably tell you to shoot raw. If you shoot raw + jpeg,, under "color saturation" in the menu, BW is offered.

Unless otherwise persuaded, I will continue to shoot in raw and do conversion in CS5. David
