Nicolux Posted December 18, 2011 Share #1  Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi from France  I'm a new user of X1 after years using Nikon DSLRs. I've bought the hand grip. And now I hesitate to add thumbs up. Do you think that thumbs up is really useful even though I already have the hand grip? Thank you   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Advertisement Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi Nicolux, Take a look here Thumbs up & hand grip: really useful?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JOM51 Posted December 18, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted December 18, 2011 I have the hand grip, and I just received my new Thumbs Up. The combination is great. I have now a much firmer grip on the camera. I just wish I had it earlier. greetings from Holland.
jippiejee Posted December 18, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted December 18, 2011 I only have got the grip, and that's bulk enough for a good hold on the camera.
kentair23 Posted December 18, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Hi, Â Just got mine today and tried it, damn useful especially in vertical shot which gives you stable handling.
Nicolux Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #5 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Thank you all for your answers. I hesitate because of the price of the Thumbs Up...
amyukie Posted December 18, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted December 18, 2011 What do you think if only the thumbs up is used? I really don't like the grip, it makes the X1 not compact..
Nicolux Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #7 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dont have the thumbs up yet. The hand grip is very useful for me: I have long and thin fingers. Without that hand grip the X1 slip out of my hands (especially in vertical position) Â If I buy a TU I'll try without hand grip. Denis99 Posted December 18, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted December 18, 2011 I've had the hand grip, thumbs up and the external view finder. Â I'm selling both the viewfinder and the grip, asI feel it goes against the compact nature of the camera. I've had the grip and viewfinder for well over six months - since I stopped using them I haven't found me wanting to put them back on. Â The Thumbs Up is definitely worth keeping though - just my opinion though - I think its a personal thing.
Nicolux Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #9 Â Posted December 18, 2011 You sell the VF just because you want more compact? Â Â Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Denis99 Posted December 18, 2011 Share #10 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Yes, I didn't find it that useful really.
jpjansen Posted December 22, 2011 Share #11 Â Posted December 22, 2011 Yes, I didn't find it that useful really. Â That reminds me to ask my wife to take a picture of myself in the "Thumbs up and hand grip" position ... Maybe this weekend, it is almost Christmas with some downtime. Â It works --- thumbs up, hands low, elbows tucked in -- for a quite reliable 1/30 and often less down to 1/10 Â Jos
Clemgill Posted December 23, 2011 Share #12 Â Posted December 23, 2011 i had the TU but it damaged the upper plate of my X1. Indeed this plate is very thin and the fixture to the main body is weak. TU in the flash socket transfers too much stress especially when the X1 is used in rough conditions, which is my case (hiking). Hand grip is mandatory for me as I have large hands... Â My two cents. paulpp Posted December 23, 2011 Share #13 Â Posted December 23, 2011 I use the Thumbs Up and love it.
prk60091 Posted December 23, 2011 Share #14 Â Posted December 23, 2011 What do you think if only the thumbs up is used? I really don't like the grip, it makes the X1 not compact.. Â i have had teh thumbs up for about a year now- it is worth every penny makes the camera very easy to handle and in combination with a wrist strap makes it very portable. Â I have absolutely no experience with the hand grip so i cannot comment on that.
jank Posted December 23, 2011 Share #15 Â Posted December 23, 2011 I have large hands, both the handgrip and thumbs up work for me, however my wife having smaller hands prefers thumbs up, no handgrip. jan

This point is very interesting for me.   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nicolux Posted December 24, 2011 Author Share #17 Â Posted December 24, 2011 It is done: TU CSEP-2 ordered today. With the hand grip, I'll try to make a little review when I receive that TU (not easy in English). Â Â Â Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
