plasticman Posted December 19, 2011 Share #21 Posted December 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been using my M8* again after an extended hiatus, and experiencing a lot of love for what it can do, and how lovely the images can look, compared to other digital cameras I own or use. The main reason I use it at this time of year, is that in my experience digital generally handles darker, indoor environments with greater ease than film (i know that YMMV). All I need to add about darkness, interiors and seasons is that I live in Scandinavia. What I think Henry has rediscovered recently, is how utterly beautiful and TRUE film can be when it's capturing LIGHT. Digital sensors - not even RED cameras - can do that (yet?) They can capture more detail, they can do wonders at high ISOs, and so on. But the sheer presence of a film image is both difficult to express in words, and impossible to duplicate with digital. Naturally, this is just my opinion. In case anyone intends to lecture me about M9 color, I've done some tests of the M9 and - purely subjectively - I prefer the color rendering of the M8. Just as above - ymmv etc...

Doc Henry Posted December 19, 2011 Author Share #22 Posted December 19, 2011 It's strange but I am quite agree with Plasticman ... Again, I do not start the debate here between digital and film At equal quality, I just want to know why so many people abandon the film to go to digital ... Is the image we get is correct ? The view, as I said earlier, is something very complex and I do not want to make a course on sight, visual memory , the intervention of the brain but I summarized in one little phrase: "the eye looks, the brain sees" The design of software photo based on the assumption of interpreting and translating the images perceived by the eye ... it is a human conception and is trying to get closer to what you see ... it ends there .. On the other hand, one who works with photo software, which stands in front of his computer by acting on the slider to increase or decrease a particular parameter is something subjective (assuming they know the basic principles of color : I am not able) ... If he mastered well its software and color, it is certain that the charm and artistic side of a beautiful picture was to his credit. Henry

I find it easier and there are less spoiled pictures compared to the M9 ... Henry
