Anyone tried RAW Developer

It is a top-notch raw converter with great support for a bargain price. Highly recommended.

I use RAW Developer for M8 files all the time (and used it on Canon 5D files before that). I think it provides the most detailed conversions of all the raw processors I've used. The feature set is large, the list of supported cameras is extensive, the color profiles are excellent, and Brian Griffeth (the one person company that makes the software) is responsive and supportive (search back through old threads on this forum to see some postings from him specific to the M8).

For instance, he provided tone curves in response to the requests of M8 users that allow C1 profiles to be used in RD---this lets us use Jamie's profiles, and the JFI black and white profiles.

Until later,

Clyde Rogers

I love raw developer, and use it as my "only" raw converter for the M8, using Brian's posted M8 486 filter profiles.

Highly recommended; I'm using Raw Developer to generate my cyan masks for the "alternative method for cyan drift correction" thread.

Has anyone tried RAW Developer (Mac only) with M8 files? I have played with it a little, but not much. Am interested in opinions, comparisons etc.

Dan - I quite like it. It is intuitive, simple, excellent. I also use Phase One, which in some ways -- histogram in particular -- I prefer. But P1 is so damned un-intuitive, it is a treat to use Raw Developer. JB

Pluses- draws colours well, has the option of Lab colour space and great B&W convertor.

Minus- takes a bit of getting used to, filing a bit cumbersome, direct printing there are others better

RD is an excellent application; I have tried several of the usual culrpits, and have used CS3 beta a lot. But I always come back to RD; with the right profiles the results are very very good. And, more importantly, the user interface is excellent and intuitive, including for batch processing. I like it.
