I don't mind admitting I bought the Leica for the Bling.

Me & my dad grew up on manual then auto SLR's. Lugging all the kit to shoots. I was given the oppurtunity of buying the V-lux half price as it was 2nd hand. I've never been able to afford one previously so I was more than happy. Couldnt believe the size of the zoom & I was fed up of carrying 2-3 lens (28-70mm , 70-300mm) to weddings etc + external flash. And I no longer needed to carry a camcorder as well, because the video suffices for the short cips I ake. The Leica V lux is a great all in one solution & it looks & is the business. If I 'm lazy I can leave it in auto made & let it autofocus. I get more outstanding shots in a days shooting , as no hassles with, missing shots whilst focusing, changing batteries or film.

I didnt expect much at the Leicas full zoom range approx 400mm. But my longest lens previously on my canon slr was 70-300mm, so anything extra was a bonus anyway.

I also have a Panasonic FZ28 which is also my joint favourite, but the Leica although it has a shorter lens has:

1. Hotshoe for flash.

2. Flip out viewfinder

4. Slighty warmed colours, good for portraits or counteracting over bluey oudoor scenes

5. The Manual focus option, is old style lens turn rather than nodule (actually I like both ways)

6. I could have the lens cap on & still look professional.

7. Its a Leica.

7. Its a Leica, and,

9. Its a Leica :-)
