Hi there,

I've finally just bought my first leica (leitz m6 #1738xxx), can someone tell me something more about it please (year, pro and con, finder magnification etc). Sorry, I haven't any guide!

I'm still looking for a lens (35mm f/2), any suggestion? Looks difficult to find.

Thanks,

Davide

My info suggests a chrome M6 from 1988. Finder mag should be the standard 0.72.

Its somewhat hard to suggest places to seek out a lens with no info on your location! :D If you can't find a Leica one though, the Voigtlander lenses are inexpensive, and are good lenses - 35mm f/1.7 is the closest to an f/2.

Fascinating David - you didn't buy the body from Aperture near the British Museum by chance, only they have an M6 matching your description listed as sold! :D

Who needs all that hi-tech ID card crap to spy on your fellow forum members, eh.

For lenses, I'd recommend trying any of RG Lewis (who are not currently in their usual home due to building work in the area - temporary home is at 19/21 Sicilian Avenue), Jacobs in New Oxford Street, Richard Caplan, or Classic Camera (who might be a bit more pricey, and some here don't care for them). Alternatively, Ffordes are always worth a look, Jonathan Harris currently has a 35mm/2 listed for just under £600
