symmetron Posted January 1, 2012 Author Share #21 Â Posted January 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, so over the holidays I, again (3rd time), reinstalled the 2.0 Firmware. Unbelievably, the camera is focusing differently, and the OOF issue seems to have been corrected. Who would have imagined, as the only difference on the Firmware was that it was sent directly to me from Leica and was not downloaded from their site like the previous two installs; which shouldn't matter anyway. Â I still notice that whenever there is a point source of light (e.g. Christmas tree lights, highly reflective source, etc.), the camera sometimes has some difficulty focusing. Same as my D2 and occasionally (rarely) my DL4. Otherwise, the issues cited before seem to have gone away.
Advertisement Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hi symmetron, Take a look here X1 Focusing Modes. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nippa Posted January 2, 2012 Share #22 Â Posted January 2, 2012 So, here goes, and I know I'm going to get 'flamed' for my opinions, but I'm just trying to help you with the experiences I've had. I don't think the X1 is suitable for hand-held use. It focusses so slow, that by the time the focus is fixed, your hand has already moved. Â Â I'm no X1 Fanboy but , unless you are physically impaired in some way , handholding the X1 in Daylight or Low Light is as easy as any other compact camera around. Auto Focusing is normally achieved with 1 second or so ; not the fastest but no great problem. I can only imagine that you have a bad unit.
