Advertisement Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hi bill, Take a look here Buying used M9 in London . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted November 29, 2011 Share #22 Posted November 29, 2011 TCC are not authorised dealers. They used to be... I would change brands if they were the last place on earth selling Leicas. I'm not that anti-TCC - in fact I bought an MP from them only a few months ago (it was a rare-ish variant at a good price) - but I do feel you have to go in there with your eyes wide open and your expectations low. I strongly dislike their sharp (IMO) practice of asking for non-refundable deposits and feel that the dealer/customer relationship there is more akin to a shop on the Tottenham Court Road than it is to what I expect at a Leica dealer. My advice to anyone buying a Leica in London is try any of RG Lewis, Red Dot or Richard Caplan (do the "elite still meet and greet" there?). My personal preference is RG Lewis. andybarton Posted November 30, 2011 Share #25 Posted November 30, 2011 Bought a chrome M9 with 6 months warranty from Richard Caplan today. That must be an M9P. I'm surprised that had been turned so quickly.
StephenPatterson Posted December 1, 2011 Share #26 Posted December 1, 2011 That must be an M9P. I'm surprised that had been turned so quickly. Perhaps the OP purchased a silver grey paint M9 masquerading as chrome?

dkCambridgeshire Posted December 2, 2011 Share #30 Posted December 2, 2011 I would check with Red Dot if you can get the camera VAT-free out of UK as a Swedish citizen. That would most likely apply to a new M9 whereas I think second-hand is without VAT in the UK (though not sure about that). But if you can get it without VAT, or get the VAT refunded in the airport when leaving UK, that would be a 20% saving on the new price. Incorrect ... it would in fact be a 16.67% discount on the VAT inclusive price dunk
gDallasK Posted December 12, 2011 Share #31 Posted December 12, 2011 No reason to avoid Ffordes in my experience either. They have proved helpful, useful and honest in many transactions. Stephens in Manchester have a Deservedly good reputation too. Totally agree. I have found Ffordes helpful and reliable. No problems with them whatsoever. ayewing Posted December 12, 2011 Share #32 Posted December 12, 2011 I agree that Ffordes are ok. I have had several items both new and second hand from them with fast delivery and no problems. They also seem able to get new lenses. I ordered a Leica Summilux 50mm from them in April this year. They replied that they were out of stock but would get one for me and it arrived within a fortnight.
