phancj Posted November 28, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted November 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just sent my X1 for servicing after almost 2 years of use, figured best to send it in before warranty expires. Â Well, all I can say is that Leica service center in Singapore is a real CLASS ACT, manned by some of the most polite and knowledgeable staff all eager to help. I buy luxury watches and stuff but these staff are in a different league, making me feel extremely welcomed, not the contrived pretentious courtesy you see in some places. Â My X1 looks almost like the camera I first bought (except a small dink at the bottom corner which happened when I dropped the camera). Â I feel the servicing unit of any company is indicative of their future and attitude towards customers, and leica's is simply exemplary. Â Thank you Andrew (the gentleman who fixed my cam) and rest of the staff. Hats off to you! Â I will continue to look out for new leica products! wda Posted November 28, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted November 28, 2011 Good to hear this, CJ. Just a bit too far to go to get a service done unfortunately!
phancj Posted November 28, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted November 28, 2011 Â They even bothered to ask if I wanted two holes drilled in the easy to lose lens cap. I said yes, and they did it real nicely. Â CJ
andybarton Posted November 28, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted November 28, 2011 That's a good news story. Â Can I ask what was wrong with it that it needed servicing after only 2 years?
phancj Posted November 28, 2011 Author Share #5 Â Posted November 28, 2011 Nothing really wrong, but the back dial is a tad wobbly...I figured that since the warranty is soon expiring no harm just sending it in to have the technicians look at the camera. BTW the dial at the back was a little loose when I first bought the camera but I was having too much fun I did not want to send the camera in then. Â Now they actually tightened EVERYTHING, plus put 2 holes in the lens cap for me. All that Andrew volunteered without me asking. Really proactive services. Â And the camera looks practically new! Â Plus the service center is a stone throw away from me along Orchard Road. Â CJ
andybarton Posted November 28, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted November 28, 2011 I'm surprised that they did a general service under warranty. I didn't realise that was part of the warranty deal, which I assumed was to actually fix broken kit.
phancj Posted November 28, 2011 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Andy, Â If the dial is a tad loose, the camera is useable, but isnt it prudent to have it looked at BEFORE warranty expires? Â Actually what surprised e a great deal was that I have bought things that cost a lot more and nowhere near this level of customer service, hence my post.
