bohtho Posted February 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I absolutely want to use Apple Aperture (No Lightroom/Bridge/Aperture/etc discussions...) how should I set up my workflow ? I thought I could use an Adobe DNG Converter automator action which gets the pictures off of my Digilux 3/card reader when it attaches, and converts/saves them in a different folder which is then reacted on by an Aperture automator action which imports the new image files into Aperture. Easiest way to use Aperture with a Leica ? Good idea to use the DNG format ? At least this will make Aperture work seamlessly with a Leica..

Hi Thomas I don't think that Aperture yet supports Digilux 3 files, and not having one, I can't help you directly . . . . BUT Like you, I love aperture, and it does support the Olympus E330 which has the same sensor as your digilux. I don't know if it will work, but I would have thought that Eoin's instructions for making M8 files work with Aperture would be a great starting point for you: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/16559-how-use-aperture-m8-dng-files.html The problem will be finding the correct camera name for the Digilux 3 (sorry I can't help here). But I'd have thought that running through the same procedure and using the E330 record instead of the D200 might produce a great conversion . . . . . . . otherwise I think you're going to have to wait. Not Digilux 3 RAW, but Adobe DNG Converter can convert Digilux 3 files, and Aperture reads Adobe DNG.. right ?
jipnb Posted February 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 20, 2007 Using the link given in the first reply, I duplicated the entry corresponding to the Digilux 2 in the raw.plist file giving it the name LEICA-DIGILUX 3 (it corresponds to the Panasonic-DMC-LC1) I succeeded then to open my .dng files in Aperture 1.5.2 Jean-pascal
bohtho Posted February 20, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 20, 2007 Aha.. So Aperture doesn't work with ALL Adobe DNG files...? That messes up my Automator workflow.. What kind of "standard" file format is that ?? Or is it perhaps Aperture's implementation that is wrong ?
