.. we have had the Fotomässan (yearly Photo Fair) this weekend. I must say pretty uninteresting, nothing really new. I tested a Noctilux on my M9 - and - more importantly saw the portraits of Manuel Pandalis in full size, all taken with an S2. I was totally taken away by these shoots(I of course understand that it is more than the camera and no I don´t think that technical quality is everything) !!! These images were absolutely standing apart compared to everything else on the fair. I can´t think of any better promotion for this camera than these images.

Does anyone of you know anything more about these images, how they were taken, post processing etc?

Thanks,

/Anders

If you din´t get a copy of the S-Magazine you can order a copy online. There is a story on those pictures in it. As I understood it, there was only natural light, but quite a bit of converting/Post processing going on.

I agree on the pictures, I myself thought they were the only ones together with Wennmans pictures, worth looking at.

Have a look at: S-League

I was given a copy of S magazine and agree that the Pandalis portraits are impressive. The rest the magazine is tedious - the content is very 'German' and the magazine contains some of the most boring photographic work I have ever seen collected in one place. It's very similar in content to Hasselblad's Victor magazine which, strangely enough, is also usually very boring.

What is the meaning of - very German -

What is the meaning of - very German -

Good question. I meant it in the context of photography - especially fashion photography. I am of course making a gross generalisation but there does seem to be a school of fashion photography much favoured by German glossy magazines that appears unable to leave the Autobahn techno era behind. Dreary studio-bound staging, angular, ugly models well past their sell by date, etc. Perfectly exemplified by the Joachim Baldauf and Alexander Straulino pieces in this particular magazine.
