deltoid1 Posted February 18, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry if there is a better place to post this. Â I can't find any silver models, and at this point I think I may have talked myself out of this blonde model. Â As far as I can see, in the US, only Willoughby's and Adray has the black M8. Any feedback as to these two dealers?
LichMD Posted February 18, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 18, 2007 I bought mine at Photo Village, and B&H routinely receive limited quantities of both bodies. Other forum members have used other vendors on both coasts. I can vouch for the two above.
AaronJ Posted February 18, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 18, 2007 My one experience shopping at Willoughby's was NOT a happy one. Â Try Sean at Camerawest.com.

Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 19, 2007 Share #5  Posted February 19, 2007 Carmen i would not buy from Willoughby's  Call Sean at Camera West and tell him I sent you along. he is a great guy to deal with and will most likely have a M8 for you or can get you one in the next shipment or Tony at Popflash. I buy almost all of my gear from them and refer many folks to them
Shootist Posted February 19, 2007 Share #6  Posted February 19, 2007 Don't know anything about Adray but Willoughby's lies about what they have in stock and will ship immediately, until they charge your CC and then send you a email stating that it will be shipped as soon as they get it. When I was searching for a M8 in December they listed it as IN STOCK. Just to make sure I called them and asked if it was REALLY In Stock. They said NO. So I asked why they list it as in stock with immediate shipping. They had no answer for that.  Sorry if there is a better place to post this. I can't find any silver models, and at this point I think I may have talked myself out of this blonde model.  As far as I can see, in the US, only Willoughby's and Adray has the black M8. Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 19, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted February 19, 2007 Silver maybe pretty easy to get
deltoid1 Posted February 19, 2007 Author Share #13  Posted February 19, 2007 Silver maybe pretty easy to get  You think? I always like a lighter color camera. Shows fewer fingerprints, cooler in the summer. Never forget the blonde version of the OM4T. Really beautiful finish.  OTOH, the silver M8 will stick out like a sore thumb I imagine. Won't look as good with the black tape hiding the red "steal me" circle.
carlmuck Posted February 19, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted February 19, 2007 My experience with Willoughby's was entirely un-eventful and acceptable. Â I've been routinely looking over a wide range of sites (Tamarkin, B&H, Kurland, Willoughby's, ...) looking for an M8. Willoughby's popped up with "in stock" 2 weekends ago. I placed the order on Saturday night, on-line, they called on Sunday to confirm the order and delivery instructions, and the box arrived in my office on Tuesday. Â I got a call on Tuesday to confirm I received the package and asked if I had any other needs, which (other than a 28 Elmarit-M ASPH that seems to be even more rare than the M8) I didn't. Â Overall it was as good a transaction as can be expected. Â carl.
mwalker649 Posted February 19, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted February 19, 2007 I just bought a black M8 and two Leica lenses from CameraWest. They are very good to work with, I delt with Mike.
AaronJ Posted February 19, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted February 19, 2007 For a while (maybe even now) Willoughby's would only sell M8s as a kit which meant you had to buy a new Leica lens with the camera. If you weren't game for this, they wouldn't sell you the camera. I suppose this is ultimately their choice but it made quite a few people mad. Â My wife went in for a UV filter and a strap for her SLR one day and it upsell, upsell, upsell and none of the accesories had price tags. The salesman was really shifty and liked to play the hurry up game. When the total came up, it was a bit more than we'd expected. My wife asked for an itemize receipt and they wouldn't even give her one.

carlmuck Posted February 20, 2007 Share #18 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Aaron, as of 2 weeks ago they didn't seem to care what I purchased. I did buy an extra battery and a couple of SD cards, but no pressure to add on to my order. Â c.
arthury Posted February 20, 2007 Share #19  Posted February 20, 2007 As of now, there are 2 brand new M8 at Berger Bros. I have bought big-ticket items from them before and Brad is a good man to deal with. He is down to earth and provides a personal care which B&H can never come close.  Berger Brothers Long Island Photo Stores - Home Video, Meade Telescopes, Binoculars, Nikon, Sony, Canon Cameras  Grab it before they are gone ...
