Clive Murray-White Posted November 10, 2011 Author Share #41 Â Posted November 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I took the opportunity of trying the handheld method/advice and took this from my hotel window - I can find too many faults in it to be happy - I'll be seriously grumpy if I don't do better when all the parts for my "home made" pano rig turn up. Still waiting for the eBay 4way slider to arrive from China. Â

pico Posted November 10, 2011 Share #42 Â Posted November 10, 2011 This is M relevant. Not digital relevant at all. Â Of course. Why do you feel compelled to inject correction when it is not necessary? You do it too often, IMHO. Â .
Clive Murray-White Posted November 12, 2011 Author Share #43 Â Posted November 12, 2011 Just to finish this one off - here's what I ended up with. It could be done quite lot more cheaply but given that I already had a Manfrotto tripod + elbow bracket + tripod head, I decided to keep it all Manfrotto compatible. Which meant buying a new Manfrotto element to go between elbow bracket and the cheap Chinese eBay 4 way slider. Â I had hoped that while I was constructing this, I'd find a cheap rotating head to go between tripod head and 4 way slider, no such luck but this old Linhof head came up and seems to do the job very nicely even if it does take up more room than I'd like. Â How does it work? Set tripod up and make sure the head is completely level regardless of how the legs sit on the ground - attach the rig (I've tightened the tilt movement on the Linhof so it stays square), set the camera so the lens "entrance pupil" is directly over the spirit level bubble on the Linhof by using the 4 way slider - rotate using the Linhof handle after each shot, use either a cable release or self timer, now to work!!! Â Thanks again for all your help - Clive
andybarton Posted November 12, 2011 Share #44  Posted November 12, 2011 Of course. Why do you feel compelled to inject correction when it is not necessary? You do it too often, IMHO. .  That's not correction, it's explanation, because originally this thread was in a digital subsection and I explained why it was moved.  Mods get criticism when they explain things and when they don't, it would seem. Fair enough.
