missmarvell Posted October 22, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought my D-lux 5 half a year back and Lightroom 3 came free with purchase. Earlier I activated the Lightroom on my laptop and PC and now I've changed my laptop. Will I be able to use the same serial number in the same laptop? Thank you! Advertisement Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Hi missmarvell, Take a look here Lightroom 3 from Leica. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted October 22, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2011 You are allowed to use it on two machines of your own. One desktop and one laptop, for example. If you change your hardware, you need to deactivate the software on the old laptop, thereby freeing up one more use on a new machine.

kdriceman Posted October 22, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2011 You are allowed to use it on two machines of your own. One desktop and one laptop, for example. If you change your hardware, you need to deactivate the software on the old laptop, thereby freeing up one more use on a new machine. This is the correct procedure. With Photoshop Adobe strictly enforces the 2 computer restriction. However, based on my experience, they don't enforce it with Lightroom.
dave_d Posted October 23, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2011 Deactivate it by uninstalling while connected to the internet. If you have problems activating a second copy after uninstalling call Adobe. I had a hard drive crash which had my second copy of Lightroom and Photoshop and had to call to get my second copied activated again when I installed it on my new drive. Adobe was understanding and very helpful in my experience.

hoppyman Posted October 24, 2011 Share #9 Posted October 24, 2011 There is no activate/deactivate routine with Lightroom. It is different in that respect to Photoshop. As long as you comply with the EULA there is no restriction on a new install when you provide the serial number.
pico Posted October 25, 2011 Share #10 Posted October 25, 2011 I find LR to almost useless. The worst interface I've ever seen. I'll stick to Photoshop.
integrale Posted October 27, 2011 Share #11 Posted October 27, 2011 I find LR to almost useless. The worst interface I've ever seen. I'll stick to Photoshop. It's a thread-jack, but nevertheless: In my experience it's not a question of LR or PS but LR and PS. LR is a picture management software (database oriented) with some build-in editoral tools (some of these are quite good, like e.g. the noise reduction tool). If you tend not to do a lot of correction after the shot and primarily need an efficient way to manage your pictures, LR is a nice tool. If you do some more editing, then PS is a much more powerfull tool.
honcho Posted October 27, 2011 Share #12 Posted October 27, 2011 50% offer on LR3 for today only, if anyone is wanting it: https://store2.adobe.com/cfusion/store/index.cfm?store=OLS-UK&view=ols_prod&category=/Applications/PhotoshopLightroom&distributionMethod=FULL&trackingid=JHUPW#store=OLS-UK&view=ols_prod&category=/Applications/PhotoshopLightroom&loc=en_gb It's OK, but not my choice.
