cfx Posted October 12, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted October 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Â does anybody know from which material the M8 hotshoe is? Â I have between the hotshoe and the camera some rust. Â Ok, my camera is since 4 months in Central America and had some heavy contacts with water and humidity. But it looks like the bottom of the hotshoe is not chromed. Â any experiences on this? Â Â regards chris
Advertisement Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Hi cfx, Take a look here M8: hotshoe is corroding!?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted October 12, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted October 12, 2011 Chris I suggest that you have your camera serviced. If corrosion develops inside the camera it could cause serious and expensive damage.
cfx Posted October 14, 2011 Author Share #3  Posted October 14, 2011 Hi Geoff,  thanks for your reply.  A the moment its only a small part between the hot shoe and the camera body. I will send the camera to the CS, but not until june 2012.  There is no CS in Nicaragua or other central american countries.... And shipping and receiving parcels to/from the states is quit complicated in Nicaragua....  thx & regards chris   btw: nice travel pictures on your pbase website. You had a great weather when visiting Yosemite.
hoppyman Posted October 14, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted October 14, 2011 Hi Chris yes Customer Service is a long way from here as well! The danger with the corrosion is if there is more inside the camera. Thanks for looking at my photos. By the way I will probably be visiting Salzburg for a few days during a trip next year. Photo location tips welcome!
