d lux 5 or x10

I can't speak to the x10, but the macro mode of the D-Lux 5 is much better than the X100.

If I did not have an M9 I would want the Fuji (X100 or X10) for it's more traditional handling, but my D-Lux 5 is a perfect "Go To" camera and just does everything well, for a point and shoot.

Hi

I have both (at the moment). I find the x10 easier to handle - no two ways about it. I have the additional grip but the Dlux5 still manages to slip through my fingers on occasion. I like the OVF - much better than expected and certainly not a 'looking down a tunnel' type that I've seen on other cameras.

I haven't shot with the x10 enough yet to judge on IQ but - the Dlux5 (IMHO) handles overblown highlights better. I have managed to produce a shot with the dreaded white dot syndrome (see DPReview for more on this).

It's a real shame because I really like the X10 and I hope Fuji sort this out. My wife wants my Dlux5 so I'm under pressure to keep the X10 - which brings me to another dilemma - is it fair to sell a camera to your wife?

I have the X10 for about two weeks. If I did not visited DPReview I think I would not have noticed the problem with the white dot syndrome. It reminds me of all the problems there were when the M8 was released; all the complaints (here) but Leica gave a solution. Suppose Fuji will also address the white dot syndrome, but it will take some time. I only got my M8 when the M8.2 was released. Still love my M8 despite the use of IR filters.

I have Fuji x10 about two weeks now and I also have D-lux 4 for 16 months. If you look on the body, build quality I would pick Fuji. There is nothing wrong with Leica- it is wonderful camera but I like the size of Fuji better ( I never carried my Leica in my pockets) , grip is better on Fuji, viewfinder is a plus, for me manual zoom is great addition compare to slow zoom on Leica. I prefer Fujis DOF . It is personal preference - both great cams, with a little bit better -film like pictures from Fuji. No white disks on mine so far..
