What's this red reflection in the wire wheels?

@ Alan, yes, C1 is so far the best at getting rid of those specific artifacts.

@ Jarle--I've never seen anything like that with the 50 Lux ASPH. I almost hate to ask this, but do you have a plain UV filter on it? (the recommended IR filters shouldn't do this.)

Is it at the edge of the frame?

For CA like this (and other fringing) there are a bunch of PS actions out there, because, as I said, the Canon stuff does this *all the time.*

The one I use is by photographer Chay Stephens. It's worth it's weight in gold (and absolutely worth the 10$ Shay asks for it!)

Hope this helps. I've yet to meet an abberation I can't take care of with this, though I have to say since switching from Canon to Leica optics I actually haven't used this :)

Yes I do use plain UV filter - looking forward to receive IR filters

Jarle--

I very, very, strongly suspect that the aberration comes from your UV filter and NOT the 50 1.4 :)

Try it without and see! I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

As I said, I don't see this effect with the IR filter I have, simply because it works a little differently than a straight UV filter.

Concerning purple fringing:

Here are two screen captures from the same image in Bridge. The first is a portion of the original M8 DNG as Bridge previews it. The second is a similar portion of the PSD version preview as saved with no modifications immediately after being opened in Photoshop.

Interesting to me is the fact that Bridge reads the DNG correctly, with no fringing. But as soon as the DNG is opened in ACR the fringing appears and stays.

To my mind, that's clearly a software issue.

I'm only agreeing with what others have said here, though I have no idea why the fringing appears. And I can't imagine why a respected RAW processor should behave this way. If Capture One does a better job, no wonder it's Leica's preference.

Sorry, I don't have a comparison with other image processors at the moment.

On the left: portion of DNG as previewed by Bridge.

On the right: portion of PSD as previewed by Bridge.
