John Maio Posted February 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm thinking about a new 24mm Summichron with the 6-bit coding (in anticipation of eventually adding an M8) for my M7. The built-in frame lines on the M7 are set for 28/90mm, while the M8 has 24mm frame lines. What happens when I mount a 24mm on the M7? Do I get any frame indication at all, or must I get an external viewfinder?
Advertisement Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Hi John Maio, Take a look here 24mm Summichron on the M7?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lambroving Posted February 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2007 24/2.8. It's big enough without being f2. You need a viewfinder
John Maio Posted February 15, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted February 15, 2007 So William, you're suggesting I get the Elmarit instead of the 'Chron? Guess I need to look into a used viewfinder as I'd only occasionally need it on the M7
lambroving Posted February 15, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2007 John, The 24 is a 2.8. There is no 2.0. Wishful thinking perhaps? I use a brightline finder on my M7 with the 28/2. While the 28mm camera frames lines are very accurate for framing if you have the time, I'd never have got this shot with the camera v/f. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/sports-leisure-time/9571-canadian-national-railways-3254-a.html Scroll down to the second shot, which is, BTW, full frame. John Maio Posted February 15, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks for clarifying that - I wonder where I got the idea there was a 2.
