Hi all,

Years ago I lost the original hood for my noctilux and, not wanting to spend the crazy asking price for a replacement original, was wondering if anyone has found a good alternative. I have the f/1 nocti with the 58mm threads, I believe it is the 2nd version of the lens. The image is the version I have.

any help appreciated,

cheers

ryan

The original is (to my mind) an ugly plastic item. In about three weeks time I'm planning to go to my nearest friendly pseudo-Voigtlander dealer, and try that brand's 58mm screw-in vented hood. I'll let you know how this works out.

Best regards,

Doug

I got my Noctilux years ago and one of the reasons I waited for an E58 is that I had read back then that 60mm filters and hoods were hard to come by. I use filters quite a bit but a nice little short protective hood like this was a real bonus. :)

I went to see my nearest Voigtlander dealer a few days ago, but they did not have the LH-7 (the 58mm vented hood for the f1.1 Nokton) in stock.

Both Heliopan and B+W offer a short 58mm metal hood. These are very similar, but have no flare, extending forward with the same diameter as the exterior of the lens mount. I have the Heliopan version (ES 58), which is about 18mm deep, and have used this successfully on my M8.2. However, test images taken with my new M9-P show significant vignetting of the corners of the image.

Best regards,

Doug
