NZDavid Posted September 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have downloaded both, but do I need to keep LR2? (I am more familiar with it.) I need to free up some space on my hard drive.
Advertisement Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hi NZDavid, Take a look here Lightroom 2 or 3 do I need both?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted September 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2011 Hi David. No reason whatsover to keep LR2 installed once you have LR3. I think that the default behavior when you install a new version is to leave the old one intact
NZDavid Posted September 21, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted September 21, 2011 Thanks Geoff, I was only wondering whether LR2 had any significant advantages, but probably not. My Mac needs a major clean-out once I get caught up! Cheers, David
john_newell Posted September 21, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2011 Thanks Geoff, I was only wondering whether LR2 had any significant advantages, but probably not. My Mac needs a major clean-out once I get caught up! Cheers, David None that I'm aware of. I was surprised that the LR new version installs have been parallel rather than replacement installs. I deleted LR1 and LR2 for the same reason and have not had any reason to go back to the earlier versions. The added functionality in each case has been worth both the cost and the learning curve. Jeff S Posted September 28, 2011 Share #5 Posted September 28, 2011 I kept LR 2 for a while after downloading LR3, but then deleted it once I was confident that there weren't any downsides. To the contrary, I've now gone back and redeveloped old pics with LR3 (the option shows up in the bottom right develop module screen). The improvements are easily noticeable. Great job by Adobe.
