roydonian Posted September 25, 2011 Share #21 Posted September 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m puzzled by the difference in frame visibility that I experience and that reported by Robert Parker. I rechecked and found that I can barely see the 50 mm frame when I take my glasses off, but this involves having the magnifier touching my eyelashes – a sensation that I find uncomfortable. I’m very short-sighted, so it’s possible that the lens in my eye has a narrower field of view that would be normal. Best regards, Doug

jimofnyc Posted September 25, 2011 Share #22 Posted September 25, 2011 Hello Marco, I use the Leica 1.25x magnifier on my M8 and my two lenses - a 50 Summilux and 35mm Summicron. My reason for using is that I wear glasses and the magnifier (with its rubber ring) makes a good 'bumper' that gets the viewfinder entrance a little further away from the camera body. This makes it easier to get my eyeglass lens right up against the viewfinder with less chance of scratching it. I also have a 'Thumbs Up model 1 CS' fitted - which adds an additional protuberance on the back of the camera. Using the viewfinder 1.25x magnifier on the camera helps to get the viewfinder 'peep hole' even further from all of the 'stuff' on the back of the camera. Using the magnifier does make seeing the frame lines a little more difficult with the 35mm but not impossible.
