Evans Walker vs A&A ACAM 7100 vs WCAM 7500 (Torpedo)

Friends, I have narrowed down my choice of a new bag to these three. I like the looks of the Evans Walker bag the best and the simplicity and security of the zipper top. But I am concerned that it may provide less protection from the elements without the conventional flap. Rain would fall right into the camera compartment. But with a flap, particularly the large one with the Torpedo, there is always some protection for the contents. And the idea of having a zipper on top of the bag, totally exposed to rain, makes me wonder if this is really a fair weather bag. I know that the Evans Walker bag is popular here. Rather than assume, and incorrectly, I would appeciate hearing from those of you who use it - or the other two I am considering.

Many thanks,

David

By the way, are there any smallish bags out there that have a flap and a zipper?

I have the Oskar 7100 and the torpedo; if I recall the torpedo is the only one advertised as waterproof. And it seems like it is. I put two cameras with lenses mounted in either.

The torpedo looks a little purse-y, but it's a great bag.

The only draw back with the flap is the velcro. I had not considered it in advance, but opening the velcro is loud. I use the A&A Evans Walker. Depending on your style of working, it could be a problem. For me velcro is no good because if I am working inside of a temple or silent space and need something from the bag the velcro is super loud.

True, the Evans zipper is not waterproof, but the new Black Label bags have waterproof zippers. The head designer of A&A left and started Black Label. Its the same bag, with heavier fabric and waterproof zippers. They sell them at Photo Village. That should solve the problem.

I use a lot of stuff from Photo Village and review their gear on my site, but just so its clear, I dont make any money on sales or commissions. I just like the shop and love their products.
