Is this an original Leica case?

This is a very well used Leica case but it is one of my favourites simply because unlike any of the others I have the front section is held on with poppers and can easilky be removed. I have seen similar pop off fronts but only on cases with extra features, like room for a speed winder or a clip for a flash gun.

Is this a modification by some previous owner or is is an original Leica case and, if so, why were they not more popular because the design is so practical. Does anyone else have a similar case?

Nice case. However I quite like the ordinary flip-up front cases.

My 111c case has a PRYM button, and it provides loads of camera/lens protection, and honestly, how long does it take to flip down the case-front? Malcolm Taylor supplied it and he suggested a new strap - but we used the old buckle - functional and retains some historical interest.

However, I like looking at new (to me) leica gear, and as I say, that is a NICE case!
